The Cheltenham Gold Cup is one of the most prestigious and coveted races in the National Hunt racing calendar. It is the highlight of the Cheltenham Festival, taking place annually at Cheltenham Racecourse in Gloucestershire, England. The Gold Cup is a Grade 1 steeplechase race run over a distance of about 3 miles and 2½ furlongs (approximately 5,331 meters), with 22 fences to be jumped. The Cheltenham Gold Cup has a long and storied history, dating back to its inaugural running in 1924. The race attracts the best steeplechasers from the United Kingdom, Ireland, and occasionally further afield. Horses, jockeys, and trainers aspire to win the Gold Cup, as victory in this race is considered one of the highest achievements in National Hunt racing.
